Danao City schools ready for in-person classes


CEBU CITY--Several schools in Danao City, northern Cebu are gearing up for the start of face-to-face classes.
At least 20 schools in the city have been allowed by the Department of Education (DepEd) to hold in-person classes starting March 7.


"We are now just awaiting the safety seal from DepEd (Department of Education)," said  Danao City Vice Mayor Thomas Mark “Mix” Durano.
Schools that qualified to hold in-person classes were Cambubho Integrated School, Dungga Integrated School, Quisol Integrated School, Eduardo Gorre Integrated School, Raymund B. Hermosilla IS, Lawaan Elementary School, Ramon Durano Snr. MNHS, Cahumayan Senior High School, Portland Elementary School, Malapoc National High School, Baliang National High School, Sandayong Sur National High School, Sandayong Sur Elementary School, G. Ypil Integrated School, Cogon Cruz Integrated School, Bibiana Mercado Integrated School, Taytay Integrated School, Cambanay Elementary School and Leona Zamora Elementary School.
To ensure the safety of pupils, the city will be crafting an ordinance that will set the guidelines for the holding of face-to-classes.
"The ordinance will contain health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19," said Durano.
In the latest data, the city only had 47 active COVID-19 cases.
