A clutch Lord steal from Arvie “Aqua” Antonio’s Cecilion capped RSG Philippines' 2-0 sweep of Omega Esports to take the early lead in the MPL Philippines Season 9 standings on Saturday, Feb. 26
RSG PH now sits atop the standings with a perfect 3-0 record with nine points across the board, overtaking ECHO which earlier improved to a similar 3-0 standing on eight points.
With Omega threatening to turn the tables in Game 2 with its signature comeback genes, Aqua rose to the occasion during the Lord dance at the 15-minute mark of the match as the first skill of his Cecilion secured the last hit on the Lord.
That put a stop to the Omega comeback as Eman “Emann” Sangco and Jhonard “Demonkite” Caranto joined hands in peeling the health bars of Omega heroes in the following sequences to score a wipe out and end the series, 15-9.
It was actually RSG which dictated the tempo of the match from early to mid-game behind the stellar Fanny performance from Demonkite. Omega, though, secured the first Lord of the match to get some momentum and the space for Raizen’s Aulus and Kelra’s Wanwan to get their farms.
Demonkite finished with a 7-2-6 KDA while Emman added a neat 3-0-9 score line on the Kimmy pick.
The two were also the stars of RSG’s 17-6 Game 1 win.
Emman on the Wanwan collected a 5-1-4 score line while Demonkite glided his way through the enemy lines to finish with a 7-1-8 KDA.
The duo was simply unstoppable in the series opener as they went uncontested on their farms. RSG also seemed to be always a step ahead of Omega as it secured the major objectives all thanks to the effective zoning from Light’s Tank Chou and Nathzz Yu Zhong.
Omega managed to drag the match to the late game behind the efforts of debuting rookie Amethyst’s Yve pick. That, however was still not enough as it was then Emann’s turn to take over for RSG in the latter part of the match to complete the 17-6 win.
