Police have arrested a 40-year old man who attempted to smuggle some P360,000 worth of gasoline into Tawi-Tawi.
Nabbed was Nohman Abdul whose boat was intercepted off the waters of Bongao town.
Brig. Gen. Harold Tuzon, director of the police's Maritime Group, said the operation stemmed from confirmed intelligence reports about the illegal activities of Abdul.
Seized from him were 240 gallons containing gasoline and his motorized banca.
The arrested suspect, together with confiscated pieces of evidence, were brought to Tawi-tawi Maritime Police Station for proper documentation prior to turnover to Bureau of Customs.
A case will be filed against the suspect for violating Republic Act 10863, or the Customs and Tariff Administration Law.
