Wanted soldier nabbed in Caloocan City


A wanted soldier was arrested by police while carrying a gun during a drinking session with his friends in Barangay 19, Caloocan City on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The Northern Police District (NPD) Special Operations Unit (DSOU) identified the suspect as Private First Class Michael Fulgar, 42, an active member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assigned to the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) Division.

He was nabbed based on a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Teodoro Nablo of Branch 25, Fourth Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Binan, Laguna, for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004.

The arresting policemen saw the suspect with a firearm tucked in his waist while having a drinking spree with his friends outside his house on P. Zamora St. in Brgy.19 on Tuesday at around 8:30 p.m.

The cops confiscated from the soldier a .9mm Glock pistol and four magazines loaded with 14 live ammunition. He was also charged for gun ban violation.

The suspect was brought to the DSOU office for proper documentation and disposition.

He was detained at NPD custodial facility while awaiting a commitment order from the court, police said.
