Cainta Mayor Johnielle “Kit” Nieto threw his support behind Manila Mayor “Isko Moreno” Domagoso presidential bid on Wednesday, Feb. 23, saying it is time for the country to have a leader who is pro-active.

Domagoso, along with his running mate, Dr. Willie Ong and Aksyon Demokratiko senatorial bets Samira Gutoc, Dr. Carl Balita, and Jopet Sison, were in Cainta, Rizal as part of their campaign sortie.
During their visit, Nieto recalled the time when Domagoso allowed thousands of Cainta residents to get vaccinated in the city of Manila.
“Alam nyo ba mahigit 20 porsyento ng taga-Cainta pinabakuna natin sa Maynila? Kasi sabi sa akin ni Mayor Isko ‘Huwag mo na sabihin, huwag mo na ikalat. Gagawin na lang natin yan, tutulungan ko yung mga kababayan ko dito sa Cainta’ (Do you know that we vaccinated more than 20 percent of Cainta residents in Manila? Mayor Isko told me ‘Don’t say it, don’t spread it. We will just do that, I will help the people of Cainta’),” he shared.
Nieto also said Manila is very close to his heart as his mother once worked as a health center physician in the city, while his father was a former two-term councilor in the late 80s and early 90s during the time of former Manila Mayor Mel Lopez.
“So, hindi na sila iba sa amin. natutuwa lang ako nung sinilip ko ang Maynila nung itong mga nakaraang taon na ako ay umikot, ang laki talaga ng pinagbago (I was just happy to see the big changes in Manila these past few years),” he said, citing the newly renovated Manila Zoo, Luneta Park, and Manila Zoo.
“Siguro panahon na talaga na magkaroon tayo na parang pro-active na mga tao para yung pagtulong natin maging wagas no. Tignan ninyo isang tawag ko, isang punta andito kayo. Ako nagpapasalamat sa inyo kasi parang tulungan lang naman talaga tayo diba? (Maybe it's time for us to have pro-active people in government so we can help more people. I'm grateful to you for helping us),” he said.
Domagoso expressed his gratitude to Nieto and the people of Cainta for the warm welcome that he and his team received.
“Nakaka-shock. Thank you very much Cainta at sa lahat ng mga kababayan natin dito. Thank you very much at kay Mayor Kit, sa mga konsehal, mga opisylaes ng city hall. Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo sa napakainit ninyong pagtanggap. Grabe ha, grabe (It’s really shocking. Thank you very much Cainta and to all our compatriots here. To Mayor Kit, to the councilors, city hall officials, many thanks to you for your very warm welcome),” he said.
