South Korea is facing an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.

On Feb. 23, Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare reported that 171,452 new COVID-19 cases were recorded for the day, an increase of 72 percent from 99,569 new cases on Feb. 22, to bring the total confirmed cases to 2,329,182 in South Korea.

Big Hit Music announced that TXT’s Yeonjun “has made a full recovery from COVID-19 and his quarantine has concluded as of today, February 23.”

“Yeonjun has been receiving treatment from home as per the guidelines of the Health Care Center, and showed no particular symptoms during his quarantine. He had a slight fever and sore throat when he first began treatment at home but has since made a full recovery,” it said.

It added, “Yeonjun is able to resume his daily activities as he is released from quarantine by the Health Care Center. He is planning to make preparations and practice for the Fan Live that is scheduled for the beginning of next month.”

Meanwhile, K-pop boy band Pentagon’s Jinho tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 23.

“Pentagon member Jinho was diagnosed with COVID-19 today (Feb. 23),” said Cube Entertainment.

Jinho tested positive using a self-test kit and proceeded to undergo a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which confirmed his positive diagnosis.

The agency said Jinho is fully vaccinated and has suspended all schedules. He will not be able to appear on the TV music show “Show Champion” on Feb. 23.

Also testing positive for COVID-19 is Oh My Girl’s Hyojung.

According to WM Entertainment on Feb. 23, Hyojung tested positive using a self-test kit on Feb. 22 and underwent PCR testing. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 on the morning of Feb. 23.

Hyojung received her booster shot and has suspended all schedules, the agency added.

BTS’ V and ITZY’s Lia, Yeji and Chaeryeong recovered from COVID-19 while Woodz and former IZ*ONE member Kim Min-ju tested positive.
