The Las Piñas city government announced the temporary closure of the Las Piñas Nursery and Botanical Garden which is currently undergoing renovation to make it more appealing to visitors.

In a Facebook post, the Las Piñas Public Information Office said the garden is undergoing some improvements, including the constructions of bahay kubo (nipa huts), wooden benches around the place where visitors can relax, and a picnic ground.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the botanical garden being managed by the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) is one of the city’s tourist attractions.

Aguilar said the botanical garden was opened to the public, especially for the “plantitas and plantitos”, during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic last year.

She said the botanical garden has been giving away flowers and vegetable seeds as well as fertilizers to some visitors.

The mayor said flowers and other plants placed around the city came from the botanical garden.
