"Encourage voters to make the right choices in the May polls" - Bishop Mercado
Parañaque Bishop Jesse Mercado stressed the importance of guiding the voting public in choosing the right candidates in the May elections.

“We should accompany and encourage our people to make the right choices in the May polls. This is our new understanding of what non-partisanship is,” the bishop said over Radio Veritas as he stressed that guiding the public in choosing the right candidates is not partisan politics.
“It is important to guide the faithful in scrutinizing the character of every candidate for the good of all, especially for the future generation. The Church must not be silent on important issues that may result in the election of the wrong people to lead the country,” Bishop Mercado said.
Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Social Action, Justice and Peace earlier said the Church must observe non-partisan politics as he supported widespread voter’s education.
CBCP vice president, Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara, for his part, said the 67 million Filipino voters must be properly guided and oriented as to the character of the candidates in the coming elections for them to make the right choices.
