The 2019-2020 Korean drama “Crash Landing on You” has reentered the top 10 shows on Netflix in several countries and territories after its stars announced they would be getting married.
Last Feb. 10, Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin, who led the drama, announced that they would be getting married in March.
The two stars publicly admitted their relationship on Jan. 1, 2021 after a Korean media outlet published a story and photos of them on a date.
The story added that they had been dating for eight months after “Crash Landing on You” ended its run.

Based on data from streaming analytics company FlixPatrol, “Crash Landing on You” has entered Netflix’s top 10 shows after Feb. 10 in the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. This was based on the top 10 features on the Netflix website and app.
In the Philippines, “Crash Landing on You” placed eight in the top 10 titles on Netflix on Feb. 12, sixth on Feb. 13; seventh on Feb. 14; eight on Feb. 15 to 17; eight on Feb. 18; seventh on Feb. 19 and 20; and eight on Feb. 21.
“Crash Landing on You” tells the love story of Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), a businesswoman and heiress who crashes into North Korea while paragliding due to a tornado. There she meets Capt. Ri Jeong-hyeok who takes her in and helps her go back to South Korea.
When Hyun Bin announced that he would be marrying Son Ye-jin, he mentioned their characters in “Crash Landing on You.”
“I am writing this because I wanted to tell the fans, who cared about me and gave me great interest and love despite my lacking in many ways, first the most important decision of my life,” he wrote.
He added, “I’m sure some of you can guess, right? Yes, I have made an important decision of marriage and step carefully in the second act of my life. I made a promise with her who always makes me smile. Let us walk through the days that lie ahead together.”
“Jeong-hyeok and Seri, who worked together in the drama, are going to take that step together. With the warm and affectionate gaze you have shown us so far, I believe you will cheer us on happily for our first step,” said Hyun Bin.
Meanwhile, Son Ye-jin announced, “I thought long and hard about how to share this story because it’s an important one. I found someone to spend the rest of my life with. Yes... it’s him. Boy meets girl, recognizes each other in the crowd, promises to build a future together...I couldn’t imagine! It happened so naturally...But, isn’t that destiny?”
“Just being with him, I feel warm and protected. Please help us celebrate the beginning of our future. And to my dearest fans, I have received unconditional love and for a long time now, I thought, there’s no way to repay it. Please know that I’m infinitely grateful and I also wish you all happiness!” she said.
“Crash Landing on You” became popular and posted the highest rating in history among tvN dramas with 21.683 percent, which was achieved through episode 16 on Feb. 16, 2020.
The rating also put “Crash Landing on You” in third place among the highest rated Korean dramas in cable TV history in South Korea.
Ahead of the wedding of Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin, a close friend of the actress' mom revealed details about the wedding venue and date. A Korean media report stated that the two stars will have an outdoor wedding at Grand Walkerhill Seoul at the end of March.
