"Our candidate for president is Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, Jr. We also stand firmly united behind all senatorial candidates included in the UniTeam slate," read the Lakas-CMD statement issued to reporters Monday, Feb. 21.

Marcos and Duterte-Carpio comprise the so-called BBM-Sara UniTeam, and they have been the frontrunners in the presidential and vice-presidential surveys, respectively.

In the statement, the party, which which chaired by the lady mayor, thanked the various political groups that have come out in the open to express their support for Duterte-Carpio's bid for the vice presidency.

"Your dedicated service to the vice presidential campaign of Mayor Inday Sara truly warms our heart, and inspires all of us to work harder in order to secure an overwhelming victory for our candidate," it said.

"We do not condone, however, efforts of certain groups to pair Mayor Inday Sara with other presidential candidates. Lakas-CMD has entered into an alliance with the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) for the May 2022 elections, and we are committed to honor it," the party stressed.

Former senator Marcos, son of the late former strongman President Ferdinand Marcos, is the standard-bearer of PFP.

"Let us all embrace the call for unity which the BBM-Sara Uniteam help promote in their conversations with our people throughout the campaign period," Lakas-CMD further said.

Earlier this month, Duterte-Carpio revealed her arrangement with Marcos when it comes to dealing with politicians or groups that only intend to support either one of them in the upcoming May 9, 2022 polls.

The two have come finished a raucous swing in northern Luzon, Marcos's home region.
