CAGAYAN -- The Cagayan provincial government ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Director here to investigate a drag racing incident in Baggao, Cagayan on Sunday, Feb. 20, where several youths were injured.
According to Rogie Sending, Provincial Information Officer, Gov. Manuel Mamba ordered for a thorough investigation and to identify the organizer of the drag race.
According to the Baggao PNP, three young spectators of the said drag race were hit by one of the vehicles in Brgy. San Jose, Baggao, Cagayan on Sunday, Feb. 20.
They were identified as Rodel Vergara 17, Jomar Cuevas 17, and Jaykim Pagaduan 20, all students and residents of Brgy Asassi Baggao, Cagayan.
Renato Soriano, 42, of Zone 4 Brgy San Jose, Baggao, Cagayan, was reportedly the driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer with plate number UNN 912.
The PNP Baggao revealed that a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Toyota Corolla were involved in the drag racing.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly lost control of the steering wheel and run over the spectators after colliding with the Isuzu Elf with plate number CTZ 570 reportedly owned by Mayor Joan Cabildo Dunuan which was parked on the left shoulder of the road.
The victims were rushed to Baggao District Hospital and were later sent home.
