Shannon Tampon is ready to wow the pageant scene as she represents the Philippines at the Miss Elite 2022 pageant in Egypt.

Tampon was officially crowned Miss Elite Philippines 2022 during the Sashing and Crowning ceremony held at the Laurel House in Mandaluyong City on Sunday, Feb. 20. She was introduced to the media by officials of ProMedia and Hiyas ng Pilipinas.

The new beauty queen, who hails from Caloocan City, is an entrepreneur and campaigns against cruelty to animals. She is no stranger to beauty pageants, having participated in local and national competitions.

Tampon was crowned Miss Caloocan 2019, finished runner-up in Miss Philippines Earth 2019, and a finalist in Miss Bikini Philippines 2019. She also competed in Bb. Pilipinas 2021 pageant. She is being managed by ProMedia PH.

The Miss Elite Organization has authorized the appointment of the first Philippine delegate due to time constraint. Local organizers handpicked Tampon for the international contest because of the deadline for the submission of Philippine candidate scheduled this month.

The Hiyas ng Pilipinas beauty pageant will still hold its national search in March, whose winner will represent the country at the Miss Elite 2023 competition.

ProMedia executives Paul Izon Reyes and Jeremy Joy Aquino were present during the ceremony. Reyes handed out the sash while Aquino crowned the new Miss Elite Philippines. Also joining the event were Kenley Filarca - Asia Pacific Consultant for Miss Elite and Ferdinand Galdones Abejon - Miss Elite Director of Communications.

“We at the Hiyas ng Turismo Pilipinas Foundation Inc. together with ProMedia fully support her in this big milestone. Her dedication to train, exuding confidence, and varied experience in the pageant industry through the years are enough testimonials for us to say that she is crown-worthy,” said National Director Eva Patalinjug.

“Shannon, we are proud to have you as our country’s representative. Show the world what makes Filipinas ‘elite’ in our own merit,” Patalinjug added.

The second edition of Miss Elite pageant will be held at the Somabay Luxury Resorts, Red Sea in Egypt from June 10-18. Mexico's Fernanda Pumar is the reigning Miss Elite.

Organized by Stefano Douaihy, the Miss Elite competition aims to be one of the main event of beauty contest around the globe in few years time. Some 40 countries are expected to vie for the international crown.
