2 holdup suspects killed by police in QC shootout

Two unidentified armed men were killed in a shootout with the police shortly after they allegedly stole a sling bag and cash from a woman in Barangay Manresa, Quezon City early Sunday morning, Feb. 20.

According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the victim, Andrea Madrigal, 31, an online seller, asked for help from patrolling Crime Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) personnel immediately after the suspects declared the heist at the corner of Araneta Avenue and G. Roxas Street in Barangay Manresa at around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday.

Madrigal said the suspects took her sling bag containing P3,510 cash, make-up, and an identification card. They fled towards Araneta Ave. riding a tricycle.

The CIDU officers then cornered the duo on the said street, who were onboard the tricycle that matches the victim's description.

However, instead of submitting themselves to the police, the suspect pulled out guns and fired at them. The police retaliated, killing the two.

Authorities recovered from the suspects two revolvers with two fired cartridges each, four misfired bullets, two ammunitions, and 18 sachets of alleged shabu (value was not mentioned).

Madrigal confirmed that the two slain men are the suspects who took her items.

Probers are still looking into the identities of the suspects who were both believed to be around 30-40 years old.
