ZAMBOANGA CITY- Some 100 houses, mostly made of light materials, were razed by fire on Thursday, Feb. 17, in Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City.
Acting City Fire Marshal Lucio Albaracin said the fire started at 12:55 p.m. and reached the third alarm.
Albaracin attributed the conflagration to an electrical short circuit based on accounts by witnesses. Investigation is still ongoing.

A 31-year-old female resident was brought to the hospital after experiencing difficulty in breathing. No other casualties were reported.
Albaracin said firefighters had a hard time controlling the fire due to the inner streets crowded with the affected residents.
Firefighters had to link several hoses to connect to a fire hydrant located a distance from the conflagration.
The victims were evacuated to the barangay hall and the San Roque Elementary School for profiling and assistance by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
This is the second fire to hit the village in less than a week.
On Tuesday, six families with 30 dependents were displaced by a fire that broke out at Nangka Drive.
