Galvez assures vaccine supply for pedia vax sites in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY- National Action Plan on COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. assured sufficient vaccine supply for the pediatric vaccination rollout during his visit here to two commercial malls and a school that are being utilized for the inoculation of children, aged five to 11 years.

Galvez, accompanied by Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco, was greeted by the sight of mascots and cartoon characters iin the party-themed vaccination sites located in two shopping malls and the Zamboanga East West Central School.

The Secretary talked and hobnobbed with the parents and allayed the fears of the children as he made the rounds of the centers.

“Nakita natin halos mabilis yun turnaround ng ating vaccination dito sa Zamboanga,” said Galvez. (The turnaround of vaccination here is quite fast.) Zamboanga’s vaccination centers also accommodated children from nearby island provinces such as Basilan and Sulu.

The swift turnaround which led to the dwindling supply of vaccines has prompted Galvez to assure that he will address the problem.

“They’re requesting for more volumes kasi nauubos (they are running out of it), and they’re saying by Thursday mauubos na ang kanilang vaccine (they will run out of vaccines by Thursday). Last na dumating na replenishment natin (The last replenishment that we sent was around), 780,000, priority natin ang Zamboanga (Zamboanga is our priority),” the Secretary added.

Region 9 has a 70 percent vaccination rate while Zamboanga City has reached 80 percent.
