3 Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group members surrender in Lanao del Sur


ILIGAN CITY ~~~ Three members of the notorious criminal syndicate Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) surrendered to the Joint Task Group (JTG) Haribon based in Kampo Ranao, Marawi City on Tuesday, Feb. 15.

The three were identified as Ebra Apil alias Brando and Ibrahim, 58, Munder Ebra Apil, 29, both residents of Barangay Tapurog, Piagapo Lanao del Sur, and Darda Lidasan alias Abu Turaypi, 17, a resident of Barangay Lininong Purok 5, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur.

Joint efforts of JTG Haribon led by Philippine Army's 103rd Brigade Commander Brig. Gen Jose Maria R Cuerpo II, 51st Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col. Fernando Payapaya, Piagapo town Vice Mayor Ali L Sumandar, Abdullah G Macapaar alias Commander Bravo, and Moro Islamic Liberation Front AHJAG for peace mechanism Ayub M Usman, helped in convincing them to surrender.

The three brought with them their respective high powered firearms such as one M16 rifle with one magazine and one Cal.45.

Cuerpo assured the safety of the surrenderees and said that "each life saved from the violent influence of the terrorist is a worthy undertaking."

The 103rd infantry (HARIBON) Brigade, along with the local government of Lanao del Sur also encouraged the other members of the DI-MG to return to the fold of the law and be with their family and loved ones.

"Kaming mga kasundaluhan ay handa kayong tanggapin para sa kapayapaan ng inyong sarili, pamilya, at nang Lanao del Sur," Cuerpo.
