The Philippines is now at low-risk for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to Malacanang, as the country, particularly Metro Manila, prepares to de-escalate to a less strict Alert Level 1 by March.

Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat has also noted the marked increase in the number of foreign tourists coming to the country, with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reminding airline companies to refrain from accepting unvaccinated passengers to the Philippines.

The case count had the number of new cases at 2,010 – the lowest this year, with 6,239 recoveries, and 52 deaths.
