The youngest daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo sang a rendition of the song “Paraiso” during an event of national artists who are supporting her mother’s presidential bid.
Robredo posted a video of her daughter Jillian singing the song written by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab and originally sang by Smokey Mountain, for the Artists for Leni program on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.
“Listening to this rendition of Paraiso brought me back to quieter days in Naga. This was Jillian’s winning number when she joined a singing competition when she was in Grade 2,” Robredo wrote on Facebook.
Jillian, who is set to graduate from college in New York University this May, is quite a performer among Robredo’s three daughters.
Just recently, she was seen performing 90s OPM pop-rock alternative tunes using a pink acoustic guitar that was given to her mom by supporters from Guagua, Pampanga.
Robredo’s post drew comments from supporters and netizens, praising Jillian for her beautiful version of the song.
“Salamat (Thank you) Jillian for this beautiful song and video. Salamat po (Thank you) President Leni sa pagbibigay ng pag-asa sa ating paraiso, sa ating mahal na bayan at sa bawat Pilipino (for giving hope to our paradise, our loving country, and for every Filipino),” said Kriskyril Lapitan.
“Nakakaiyak, inulit ko pa panoorin (This makes me emotional, I watched it again. Tears of Joy dahil dama ang sakripisyo at pagmamahal (because we feel the sacrifice and love),” commented Prime Canlas.
“Beautifully sung by Jillian, who is the spitting image of her Dad, Sec/Mayor Jesse Robredo. You and your sisters are blessed to have great parents. Filipinos need Leni Robredo to be their next President, she deserves to win. Mabuhay and God bless,” said Christina Rossana Francia.
“My heart just melted BIG time. Thank you for coming into our lives, Robredo family!” Vince Hermoso said.
During the “Artists for Leni” event dubbed as State of the HeART, Robredo was formally endorsed by five national artists namely National Artists Ben Cab (visual arts), Alice Reyes (dance), Ramon Santos (music), Virgilio Almario (literature), and Cayabyab (music).
They declared their support for Robredo, calling her as the only viable candidate who would protect the country’s history, culture, and arts.
The aspiring president also received the Arts & Culture Kartilya (guiding principles) and the 100 Pink Poems book composed by different poets.
