Cavite City LGU allots P21-M cash aid for fire victims

CAVITE CITY – The local government unit (LGU) here is appropriating P21 million to aid the victims of the massive fire that razed houses in four barangays on Saturday, Feb. 12.

In a text message to Manila Bulletin on Feb. 14, Vice Mayor Denver Chua said each of the 700 families affected will receive a cash aid of P30,000.

The victims of the fire are currently staying in evacuation centers in Ladislao Diwa Elementary School, Ovidio S. Dela Rosa Elementary School, and Barangay 27 Barangay Hall, where they are provided with hot meals, hygiene essentials, and psycho-social support.

Donations have been pouring in from neighboring LGUs as well as various volunteer groups, not only for the fire victims but also for animals displaced by the disaster.
