Two oil tankers crashed into multiple concrete barriers in two separate accidents along Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue-Ortigas (EDSA-Ortigas) flyover on Tuesday, Feb.15.
The first oil tanker crashed into concrete barriers on the southbound lane of EDSA at around 4:51 a.m. according to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
According to a report from GMA News, the vehicle hit at least 16 concrete barriers which caused heavy traffic along the lane.
The area was cleared by MMDA personnel at around 7:10 a.m.
In another accident, the second oil tanker which was on its way to Quezon City from Batangas hit 8 concrete and 3 plastic barriers on the northbound lane of the flyover at around 6:10 a.m.
The report said the vehicle, which was carrying chemicals for paint manufacturing, also drove straight into the the railings on the lane.
The driver admitted that he fell asleep while driving.
The accident forced the closure of the EDSA-Ortigas northbound lane. The area was opened to traffic at around 10:15 a.m
