Calabarzon, NCR, Central Luzon most vote-rich regions still for May 2022 polls


There are more than 65 million registered voters for the upcoming May 2022 National and Local Elections, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and among the regions, Region 4-A or Calabarzon has the biggest number of registered voters.

It's one of the most-anticipated polls with many famous names involved and since the elected president will be the successor of President Duterte.

Calabarzon still most vote-rich region According to the data provided by Comelec on Saturday, Feb. 12, Calabarzon remains to be the region with the most number of registered voters at 9,192,205. This is about 14 percent of the total number of those eligible to cast their votes in the coming elections.

It is followed by the National Capital Region at 7,301,393 and Region III or Central Luzon at 7,289,055.

This is followed by Central Visayas at 5,202,289, and Western Visayas at 5,026,305.

Cebu, Cavite, Pangasinan remain as most vote-rich provinces

Cebu is still the most vote-rich province with 3,252,696 registered voters, followed by Cavite with 2,302,353; and Pangasinan at 2,088,520.

Three provinces in Calabarzon namely Laguna at 2,044,796; Batangas at 1,819,071 and Rizal with 1,601,962 are at the top 10 most vote-rich provinces.

Laguna is followed by Bulacan at 2,007,523; Negros Occidental with 1,946,639.

Batangas is followed by Iloilo with 1,628,575, Rizal is followed by Pampanga with 1,580,473.

Quezon City, Manila, Davao Cities are most vote-rich cities

Only Quezon City at 1,403,895 and Manila with 1,133,042 surpassed the 1 million mark of registered voters.

These two are followed by the cities of Davao at 992,538; Cebu with 733,044; and Caloocan at 700,279.

Meanwhile, Comelec said that 56 percent are aged 41 years old and below.

Data from the Comelec showed those aged 18 to 41 years old totalled to 37,015,901 while those aged 42 to 57 years old totalled to 16,779,621 while those aged 58 years old and above totalled to 11,925,708.

The poll body previously mentioned that it expects a high voter turnout in the upcoming polls despite the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said that the voter turnout is usually higher during the presidential elections compared to the midterm polls.

The 2022 National and Local Elections will be on May 9.
