GMA CEO Felipe L. Gozon on Willie Revillame leaving GMA: 'We have no rancor in accepting and respecting your decision'

TV host Willie Revillame bid his fans goodbye as his variety game show "Wowowin" aired its final episode on GMA today, Feb. 11.

During the show, Revillame shared a letter from GMA CEO, Atty. Felipe L. Gozon.

There, Gozon stated how he understands Revillame's decision to join former Senator Manny Villar on his new TV station, deeming it a "rare opportunity."

"You have had and continue to have long, close personal and business relationships with Sen. Villar over the years, much longer than your relationship with us at GMA-7," Gozon said in the letter. "We appreciate that there comes a rare opportunity of a lifetime for one to choose a path that will determine one's future career, like the one offered to you by Sen. Villar."

Gozon reiterated they "understand" and "appreciate" where he is coming from.

He characterized their relationship as "harmonious, cooperative, supportive, rewarding, successful..."

"There was no problem - big or small- that we were not able to resolve to our mutual satisfaction," he related. "Hence, we have no rancor in accepting and respecting your decision."

It was Gozon who proposed that they end the program on Feb. 11 instead of Feb. 15, the official date of the expiration of Revillame's contract with them.

According to Revillame, Villar''s proposal was a "dream" particularly as he started his career as a "drummer," an "extra."

He maintained he'll never forget the opportunity that GMA has given him.

"GMA will always be a part of me," he said.

He also extended his gratitude to the network for its "trust" and "love."

"I don't want to say goodbye dahil sa industriyang ito there's always a welcome back."

Revillame cleared he has not yet signed a deal with Villar but he has to end his journey with GMA out of "delicadeza."

He didn't like the idea of him looking as if he has betrayed the network.

"Hindi ho tama yun. Sobrang bait ng taga-GMA... Di ko magagawang traydorin sila."

Revillame also thanked Gozon for "gifting" them access to their social media accounts now with 26 million followers.

He said he'll continue streaming his show "Willie Revillame: Tutok Para Manalo" via Facebook and YouTube.

He ended with this message: "Babalik ko kayo, mga nawalan ng trabaho! I'll see you soon."
