Sorbito, along with Police Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, Bacolod City police director, and other stakeholders, and government agencies’ representatives led the peace covenant signing at the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) headquarters on Thursday, Feb 10.

The peace covenant signing was held virtually for Asenso Bacolod team led by mayoralty candidate Albee Benitez at La Salle Avenue, and Grupo Progreso led by reelectionist Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Some independent candidates personally joined the activity at the BCPO headquarters.

The activity also included the releasing of white doves which symbolizes a peaceful election, and candle lighting.

When asked if Bacolod might be classified as an area of concern for the elections, Sorbito said the city is generally peaceful as of the moment.

Police Lt. Col. Sherlock Gabana, Bacolod City police spokesperson, said they decided to have the activity online for the other candidates to avoid influx of people at the headquarters, considering the number of their supporters, and while we are still in the middle of the pandemic.
