The Manila City government has started the distribution of food security boxes to over 700,000 families in the city on Thursday, Feb. 10.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, along with Vice Mayor Dr. Honey Lacuna, led the inspection of the Food Security Program boxes at the San Andres Coliseum in Malate, Manila.
Domagoso said the distribution of food boxes aims to lessen the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the people of Manila.
“Kami, sa maliit naming kaparaanan ni Vice Mayor, at ng inyong pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila, maibsan lamang yung nararamdaman ng ating mga kababayan na pagkagutom (In our own small way, we want to alleviate the hunger of our countrymen),” the mayor said.
“Ang ayudang ito ay magpapatuloy, hangga’t kaya natin. Maitawid lamang natin ang ating mga kababayan sa pandemyang ito (This assistance will continue for as long as we can to help our countrymen during this pandemic),” Domagoso added.
The distribution of food security boxes to the city’s six districts is being handled by members of the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), Department of Public Services (DPS), and Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTBP).
