CEBU CITY — At least 20 groups here have joined forces to support the presidential bid of Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo.
The "Maka-Leni sa Sugbo" vowed to hold a "hardcore campaign to help bring Robredo to the Malacanang."

"We are from various sectors, from youth, transport, labor and banking," Ryan Benjamin Yu, president of the Cebu Integrated Transport Service Cooperative (Citrasco), which is Cebu’s largest transportation-oriented group with over 5,000 members composed of operators, drivers and conductors, said in a press briefing here on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Members of the "Maka-Leni sa Sugbo" signed a manifesto after the press briefing to signify their support for Robredo.
Yu said their decision to support Robredo went through a process.
"We just didn't wake up one morning and decided to support her. We checked the things that she has done, we consulted our members, we conducted surveys," said Yu.
Yu said they also consulted passengers "and they, too, are for Leni."
"We have our data,” Yu said.
Yu said the group chose Robredo because of her "proven track record" and her desire to help the transportation sector.
"She has done a lot and we know she can do more," said Yu.
Yu said they believed that Robredo can help the transport sector through a just implementation of the modernization program.
“We are also for change, we are for modernization. VP Leni is also for modernization but what she wants is a just implementation," said Yu.
Yu said the group is focused on helping Robredo that it won't be endorsing a vice president and senatorial candidates.
"Only Robredo, that's the consensus. The members have their own choices for vice president and senators. We will focus on VP alone," Yu said.
Yu said the group will soon hold rallies to gather more support for Robredo in Cebu.
Aside from campaigning in the grassroots level with the help of their volunteers, the group also vowed to fight disinformation happening on social media targeting the vice president.
“We will also be countering false information that can be seen in the social media,” said Yu.
