10 killed, 8 injured in Baliguian road crash

Ten persons were killed while eight were injured when a red Bonggo vehicle crashed in Sitio Quary, Barangay Mamawan, Baliguian, Zamboanga del Norte last Tuesday, February 8.

Investigation showed that the vehicle was on its way to Barangay Milidan and heading towards Labason Municipality when the mishap occurred.

The vehicle was traversing a descending slope of the road when the brakes malfunctioned making the driver lost control of the steering wheel.

The vehicle loaded with passengers and copra gained speed until it fell down the side of the road.

The driver, truck man and eight passengers were declared dead on the spot. They were identified as driver Ronaldo Hadjal, truckman Adjie Hadjal, Marcelina Taga Humunong, Mesterio Ondog Suales, Insing Chiong Ompia, Analyn Budong, Alicita Asdai Abong, Marciano Imbal Ansali Jonie Ansali Salibat and Cristy Timtim Sandigo.

Eight passengers sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital.

They were identified as Pendina Talaid Gumamay, Reynald Bitong Hadjal, Ronalyn Maing Mudung, Lita Timtim Sandigo Joel Guling Sauban, Julieta Salibat Abao, Lito Midong and Junie Villanueva Sanibat.

Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.
