Vice presidential candidate Dr. Willie Ong slammed the Duterte administration for lack of hospitals amid the country’s P11.73 trillion debt.
During the proclamation rally of Aksiyon Demokratiko at the Kartilya ng Katipunan in Manila on Tuesday, Feb. 8, Ong bared his plans to create an infectious disease hospital, children’s hospital, and Cancer Center of the Philippines.
“Kawawa ‘yung may cancer natin. Murang-mura lang ang hospital, P3 billion. Mas mura pa sa face shield, 'di ba? (Pity those who have cancer. The hospital is very cheap, P3 billion. Cheaper than the face shield, right?)” Ong said.
“Ano ba yan? Ang dami na nating inutang, ni isang ospital, walang tinayo. ‘Yung gamot sa COVID na nakakaligtas ng 90 percent ng buhay natin hindi binili... Nakakainis na eh (Even with our huge debt, not a single hospital, nothing was built. The drug for COVID that saves 90 percent of lives was not bought... It’s really annoying)," he added.
Ong has been rallying for more hospitals to be built, saying this is the best solution in this time of pandemic.
If elected, the vice presidential candidate also said he would push for increase in the salary of teachers and strengthen the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ensure food safety.
Ong said he is willing to lead the Department of Health (DOH) if his running mate and presidential candidate Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso wins the presidency.
