Khi Esports, Zap Battlegroundz take Sibol PUBG spots


Khi Esports and Zap Battlegroundz are set to don the Philippine colors in the Player’s Unknown Battleground (PUBG) event in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam in May, Sibol announced on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

The two teams finished first and second places respectively in the PUBG Mobile Pro League – Philippine qualifier which was done in partnership with Sibol and the game publisher, Tencent last Jan. 22-23.

Khi Esports, which was bannered by Rankid, Damaso, Demigod and Monboy, ran away with the title after scoring five Chicken Dinners and a total of 234 points built on 110 kill points and 124 placement points. KHI ruled Rounds 1, 4, 9, 11, and 13.

Zap Battlegroundz, on the other hand, finished second with a 168 point on the board, 60 of those from the kills and 108 from the placements. The quartet of NewbieYT, Shazaam, rymon and opti only had one Chicken Dinner in Round 3 but placed second four-times in Rounds 2, 8, 13, and 15.

Khi and Zap set the pace in the 15-rounder tournament, quickly taking the number one and two spots after seven rounds in Day 1. The eventual champions topped two rounds while its runners-up secure one on the first day.

The two never relinquished its position until the end as they claimed the Sibol spots, joining the likes of Blacklist International for the Mobile Legends event, and Grindsky Eris and LF Adoption in Women’s and Men’s Division of Wild Rift.

Aside from representing the country in the biennial meet, Khi Esports will also be the PH representatives in the PMPL MYSGPH League Season 5.
