Two members of the Gokongwei group, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) and Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. (RRHI), have made it to the 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI).

RLC and RRHI comprise half of the only four listed companies in the Philippines included in this year’s roster, alongside over 400 other organizations headquartered in 45 countries and regions across 11 sectors.

Bloomberg’s GEI recognizes companies committed to gender equality and inclusion in the workplace and community. The modified market capitalization-weighted index tracks the performance of public companies committed to transparency in gender-data reporting.

It measures gender equality across five pillars: female leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand.

RRHI President Robina Gokongwei-Pe said “Robinsons Retail values gender diversity within its work culture. We recognize and celebrate the vast contributions made by women within our company, as women comprise the majority of our employee and management base.”

“We are pleased with our inclusion the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, as it is not only an avenue for transparency to our stakeholders, but it is also a tool to further look into our organization and how we create spaces that are genuinely inclusive for all genders,” Gokongwei-Pe added.

Meanwhile, this year marks the second time RLC has entered the global list. It first earned a spot in the index in 2020.

“We are honored to be included once again in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index. This recognition supports our commitment and progress in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said RLC Vice President for Human Resources, Constantino Felipe.

He added that, “At Robinsons Land, we are fostering an inclusive, people-driven culture that empowers all our employees to succeed, irrespective of gender.” “We will use the results of this year’s GEI to improve our policies and programs in ensuring balanced representation, equal opportunity and treatment, and merit-based advancement,” Felipe said.

RLC believes that promoting diversity and gender equality in the workplace are integral to its continuous growth and expansion. “These factors drive creativity and innovation, better decision-making, and greater work satisfaction,” said Felipe.

As of end December 2021, women account for majority of Robinsons Land’s total workforce and management base. About 57 percent of its employees are female, with women fulfilling leadership roles across all levels of management.

On the other hand, RRHI’s employee base is composed of 70 percent women, with female employees fulfilling leadership roles across all levels of management, including the Chief Finance Officer, Corporate Secretary and Head of Investor Relations.
