President Rodrigo Duterte's satisfaction rating remained "very good" as the majority of Filipinos still approved of his performance, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results released late Tuesday, Feb. 8.
In the survey conducted from Dec. 12 to 16, 2021 with 1,440 respondents, 75 percent of Filipinos said they were satisfied, 9 percent were undecided, and 15 percent were dissatisfied with the performance of Duterte.
"Compared to September 2021, gross satisfaction with President Duterte rose by eight points from 67 percent, gross undecided fell by two points from 11 percent, and gross dissatisfaction stayed at 15 percent," SWS said in a statement.
This translated to a net satisfaction rating of +60 (percentage of satisfied minus percentage of dissatisfied), classified by SWS as "very good."
SWS pointed out that the President's latest net satisfaction rating was eight points above the "very good"+52 in September 2021 and similar to the "very good" +62 in June 2021.
It added that the resulting +64 average for 2021 is four points below the +68 average for 2019.
Satisfaction rises to very good in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon
SWS attributed the eight-point rise in President Duterte’s overall net satisfaction rating from September 2021 to December 2021 to the increases in Metro Manila (from +48 to +61) and Balance Luzon (from +44 to +56), combined with the steady net ratings of "excellent" in Mindanao (+76 to +80) and "good" in the Visayas (+44 to +45).
Urban net satisfaction with President Duterte also rose from good to very good, up by 15 points from +49 to +64, while rural net satisfaction stayed very good, hardly moving from +55 to +56.
SWS also noted that the President’s net satisfaction rating stayed very good among the 18-24-year-olds, up by 10 points from +58 to +68; among the 25-34-year-olds, up by eight points from +56 to +64; among the 35-44-year-olds, up by 13 points from +53 to +66; and among the 45-54-year-olds, up by 10 points from +52 to +62.
Meanwhile, it stayed good among those 55 years old and older, up by four points from +45 to +49.
The fourth quarter of 2021 SWS nationwide survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,440 adults--360 each in Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
The initial results of the SWS survey were disclosed in a forum on Monday, Feb. 7.
