Duterte made the statement after the said program did not air for two weeks.

During his opening statement, the President, who was double-masked, expressed his gladness about the return of his weekly address because this gives the people the information they needed to know.

"I am glad, maligaya ako, na nag-resume tayo sa ating programang (I am happy that we are finally able to resume our program) 'Talk to the People'," he said Monday evening, February 7.

"Because nakita namin na (we are seeing that) all throughout the months that we have been doing it, the program, a lot of people are expecting information which they do not hear from other source or sources," he added.

Duterte's public address usually airs every Monday over PTV-4 and other government-run online platforms. The pre-recorded program recently has been divided into two parts, the first one airing on Monday evening while the second half airing the following morning.

Sometimes, two episodes of Talk to the People were released in one week.

Duterte has been away from the public eye for two weeks. It has been confirmed that he underwent quarantine after being exposed to household staff who tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The President, who is fully vaccinated and has already reportedly received his booster shot, tested negative for the virus.

The Chief Executive likewise underwent his routine medical check-up last week. When asked about his check-up, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said President Duterte is as healthy as any person his age.
