Caloocan City opens 5 COVID-19 vax sites for kids aged 5-11

Caloocan City opened five vaccination sites at the start of the inoculation of children aged five to 11 years old against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Monday, Feb. 7.

The city government held the first day of vaccination for the young kids at the Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC), SM Grand Central, Caloocan City North Medical Center (CCNMC), Caloocan City Sports Complex, and Bagong Silang Elementary School.

The vaccination sites were decorated with different characters and animal figures, and colorful backdrops to encourage the children to get their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.

The local government said that as of 12 noon Monday, they have already inoculated 1,200 children -- 405 in Caloocan City Sports Complex, 281 in SM Grand Central, 220 in CCMC, 200 in CCNMC, and 94 in Bagong Silang Elementary School.

The final tally for the first day of the kids’ vaccination is yet to be announced.

The local government said that it is looking forward to opening more sites for the said age group in the following days.

Meanwhile, Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan visited the SM Grand Central (the "mega vaccination site" in the city) for the kick-off of the kids' vaccination.

Malapitan thanked all the parents who decided to have their children get jabbed against the disease, as well as the medical frontliners.

According to the local government, those who registered online for the vaccination or got their schedules through the Department of Education in Caloocan (DepEd Caloocan) will be prioritized.
