Gov't targets to vaccinate 1K kids aged 5 to 11 during pilot vax—NVOC

The government is eyeing to vaccinate about 1,000 children aged five to 11-years-old during the pilot implementation of COVID-19 vaccination among the said age group on Monday, Feb. 7.

Thirty-eight vaccination sites in the National Capital Region (NCR) will be open, said National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) Co-Lead Dr. Kezia Lorraine Rosario.

“Sa ngayon, ang iniexpect lang natin ay mga a thousand or so yung mga mabakunahan natin kasi pilot pa lamang ito. So, tinitingnan natin how well----paano yung rollout, paano yung operations, at paano yung acceptance ng vaccine recipients, yung mga children, at yung mga magulang (We only expect about a thousand or so people to be vaccinated because it is just a pilot. So, we are looking at how well is the rollout, how is the operations, and how is the acceptance of vaccine recipients---- the children, and the parents),” said Rosario during a public briefing on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Aside from Metro Manila, the pilot implementation will start in selected vaccination sites in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and in Maguindanao.

The vaccination sites that will operate in Metro Manila on Feb. 7 were located in Pateros: AMC Gym; Marikina City: Marikina Sports Complex; Taguig City: SMX Convention Center in SM Aura and Lakeshore; Quezon City: Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, SM North Edsa Skydome, and QC Memorial Circle; City of Manila: Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center and Manila Zoo; Makati City: SM Makati and Nemesio I Yabut Elementary School; Muntinlupa City: Medical Center Muntinlupa and Ospital ng Muntinlupa; Paranaque City: SM Sucat and Ayala Mall by the Bay; Pasay City: T. Paez Elementary School and MOA Activity Center.

The other vaccination sites in Metro Manila include North Caloocan: Caloocan Sports Complex, Caloocan City North Medical Center, and Bagong Silang Elementary School; South Caloocan: Caloocan City South Medical Center and SM Grand Central; Malabon City: Oreta Sports Complex and Robinsons Town Hall; Navotas City: Navotas City Hospital and Tumana Health Center; Valenzuela City: VCEH Astrodome and Pasolo Health Center; Pasig City: Buting Elementary School and Manggahan Elementary School; Mandaluyong City: Podium Hall and Addition Hills Integrated School; San Juan City: Fil-Oil Gym, and Las Pinas City: Robinsons Mall, The Tenth Villar Sipag, and SM Center Las Pinas.

In Region 4-A, the Batangas Medical Center in Batangas and Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Bacoor, Cavite will serve as inoculation sites on Feb. 7. On Feb. 9, the Skyranch in Tagaytay, Cavite will open as a vaccination site.

In Mindanao, parents can have their kids vaccinated at Cotabato Regional and Medical Center in Cotabato City, Maguindanao starting Feb. 7.

Vaccination centers in Region 3 will operate on Feb. 9. These are Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga; Bulacan Medical Center in Malolos, Bulacan; Tarlac Provincial Hospital in Tarlac; Bataan General Hospital in Balanga, Bataan; and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Nueva Ecija.

The pediatric vaccination centers for five to 11-years-old in other regions are expected to operate on Feb. 14
