Quezon town offers double pay for single employees on Valentine’s Day

A fourth class municipality in Quezon province has its own unique incentive for its employees on Valentine’s Day.

Single employees of Gen. Luna municipal government office will be receiving double pay if they report for work on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

The executive order issued by the local government does not mean they have a special preference for single employees but it just wants them to report for duty so basic needs and services in the municipality would not be affected.

Mayor Matt Erwin Florido said single workers who reported for work can claim their extra pay the following day.

“Ang kabayaran para sa double pay na benepisyo ng mga empleyadong makakasama sa programa ay kukunin mula sa aking sariling pera, sa sweldo ko ng Pebrero 15, 2022,” the mayor said in a Facebook post on Feb. 1

Florido, however, emphasized that they are not encouraging their employees to remain single or be choosy forever.

Those who are qualified under the incentive program should register at the office of the Municipal Human Resource where they will be asked as to how long they have been "single".

"Mahalaga ang katapatan ng kanyang mga kasamahan sa nasabing program, kapag ang totoo ay may jowa ka naman, huwag samantalahin ang programa. Ang maaaring maka-avail ng double pay ay single, walang jowa, walang karelasyon," Florido stressed.

The Mayor's Office has the right to investigate the veracity of their status.

"Bawal ang Sinungaling” system will be religiously applied, Florido added.

He said single employees who chose not to work on Valentine’s Day can also file a paid leave.

“Last year, 43 kayong single. Sana naman this year, konte na lang. Mahal ko kayong lahat!,” the mayor added.
