Panelo's senatorial bid gets strong boost from Inday Sara's endorsement

Vice presidential race frontrunner Mayor Sara Duterte wants former presidential chief legal counsel Salvador to succeed in his bid to become a member of the Senate.

Duterte, chairperson of the Lakas-CMD and running mate of TeamUnity presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., has strongly endorsed Panelo’s candidacy.

To make public her support for Panelo was invited to her Facebook program “Sara All For You” on February 2 where the former legal counsel her father President Rodrigo Duterte laid out his legislative agenda.

After presenting his platform, Panelo said: "Mayor Sara, iyan po ang aking plataporma de gobyerno na isusulong ko kung ako ay inyong maindorso bilang Senador, at manalo sa tulong ninyo at sa tulong ng ating mga kababayan. (Mayor Sara that is the platform of government that I will pursue if you will endorse me to become senator and should I win with your help and the help of our countryment.”

The Davao City mayor replied: "Opo, Attorney. Sal. Of course! Lahat kami ay tutulong sa inyong kandidatura. (Yes, Atty. Sal. Of course, all of us will support your candidacy).”

Among the closest allies of the Duterte leadership, Panelo vowed to vowed to push for government funded care facilities for children and to remove conditions imposed by law to enjoy free education and medical services. He also promised to push for laws that will champion teachers, mothers, LGBTQIA+, and other sectors.

Panelo is considered among the brightest legal minds to be appointed to Malacanang as the president’s legal adviser.
