New CA Associate Justice Fajardo takes oath

CA Associate Justice Jacinto Gavino Fajardo Jr. takes his oath of office before Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo

Newly appointed Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Jacinto Gavino Fajardo Jr. took his oath of office today, Feb. 3, before Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo at the Supreme Court’s (SC) session hall.

Justice Fajardo, a former judge of the regional trial court (RTC), was the third judge promoted by President Duterte this month of January to the CA. He assumed the CA post vacated by Associate Justice Rodil V. Zalameda who was promoted to the SC in 2019.

The two other RTC judges promoted by the President were CA Associate Justices Maximo M. De Leon and Ana Marie Train Mas.

Earlier appointed by the President were CA Associate Justices Jennifer Joy Chua Ong and Michael P. Ong. They were both executives at the Office of the President before their appointments to the CA.

Justices Chua Ong, Ong, De Leon and Mas also took their oaths of office before Chief Justice Gesmundo and immediately assumed their CA posts.
