Korean actor Park Bogum now a licensed barber; his military discharge set in April
Add barber to the skills of Korean actor Park Bogum.
Park Bogum, who is currently fulfilling his military service in the Korean Navy, has passed a government exam to be a licensed barber.
The 28-year-old star of the Korean dramas “Record of Youth,” “Reply 1988” and “Encounter,” enlisted in the Navy on Aug. 31, 2020 and is a member of the military band.

Park Bogum is a sergeant stationed at the Navy headquarters in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong province.
"Park Bogum, who is serving as a sergeant, was named on the list of passers of the skilled technician (barber) practical test, which is the national technical qualification test conducted in December last year,” a Navy official said, according to Korean media Kyunghyang Shinmun.
The official added, “The military recommends that soldiers acquire licenses as part of their self-development before they are discharged.”
Park Bogum was known to provide haircuts to his fellow soldiers. There are different certifications that can be obtained in the Korean military such as forklift operator and Korean food cook.
He is expected to be discharged from his military service on April 30 but according to the news report, Park Bogum has more than a month of unused vacation. This may result in him being discharged early in March by using his vacation.
In February last year, Park Bogum uploaded a letter for fans, saying, “I'm starting my day by removing the snow off the road under falling snow. The landscape is so beautiful."
"It's my first time removing the snow. Even if I'm not the one who's going to use this road, it feels worthwhile because others can go through the road safely thanks to my work," he added, according to SBS News.
He added, "Doing such work made me feel grateful for all people out there who work hard to provide a safer and cleaner environment for us. These days, I feel like I have taken many things for granted when they should have been more appreciated.”
“I feel very thankful that I can use this time to read books and write letters. Please take care of yourselves well in this cold weather. Stay warm and walk as safely as you can so that you don't fall over," he told fans.
