Actor Enchong Dee was released on bail after he voluntarily surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Quezon City Monday afternoon in connection with the P1 billion cyber libel case filed against him by DUMPER Representative Claudine Bautista-Lim in August 2021.

Dee, 33, reportedly posted P48,000 bail for his temporary freedom late Monday night.

Earlier, authorities tried to serve a warrant for his arrest at his last known address in Cubao, Quezon City but to no avail.

Apparently, neighbors informed the police that Dee has not visited the area for some time already.

Entertainment broadcaster Cristy Fermin has advised Dee to voluntarily surrender himself to authorities.

“Ito ang pinakamagandang gagawin ni Enchong dito,” she said during her radio program recently. “Hindi po pwedeng pagtaguan ito. Huwag mong paliitin ang mundo mo, magpiyansa ka.”

Bautista has confirmed she filed a complaint against Dee after he criticized her wedding on social media.

“The anxiety, anguish, humiliation and the impact on my and my family’s reputation left us no choice but to file cases against those responsible for causing us so much grief and worry, which almost led to me losing our baby, and which adversely affected some of our constituents’ trust in us,” Bautista said.

Dee has already apologized to Bautista long before she filed a complaint.
