CEBU CITY--A woman and her 15-year-old daughter were killed at home in Barangay Guadalupe here on Monday dawn, Jan. 31.
Jeneleyn Bontilao, 31, and her daughter, Hannah, succumbed to gunshot wounds.
The woman's other daughter, 11, was also critically wounded in the attack.
A manhunt operation against the suspect identified as Janjan Moko was in progress.
Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office, said the suspect is Bontilao's former live-in partner.
The suspect is also said to be a police asset of Abellana Police Station.
The attack, which happened past 2 a.m., could be a case of crime of passion, police said.
Macatangay said Bontilao had broken up with Moko but the suspect was against the break-up. Bontilao's sister, Jessam, told reporters that the suspect had repeatedly threatened the victim before the attack.
Jessam said there were several instances when her sister was beaten up by the suspect that forced her to end the relationship.
"He threatened that he would kill my sister and her two daughters," Jessam said.
Police said some neighbors heard Jenelyn and Moko argue shortly after the suspect arrived in the victim's rented house.
At the height of the argument, at least five gunshots rang out, police said.
The sister added that several persons saw Moko going out of the victims' house before the killing was discovered.
