Political leaders in Mindanao launched Monday, Jan. 31 the “Sara para sa Barangay Initiative” aimed at further solidifying grassroots level support for Lakas-CMD vice presidential aspirant and Davao City Sara Duterte.
Led by Rep. Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora, together with Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy and Vice Gov. Maricar Zamora of Davao De Oro, a huge crowd of supporters of the city mayor and her presidential partner former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. attended the launch of the program held at the Octa M. Farm in Monkayo.
"Mayor Sara will champion the interest of grassroots folk in this historic initiative,” said Vice Gov. Zamora of the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
House Deputy Speaker and Surigao del Sur Rep. Prospero “Butch” Pichay, Jr., Lakas-CMD secretary general, was ecstatic at the monstrous show of support for the Marcos-Duterte partnership, saying that organizers of the event earned a heart-warming congratulations.
“This is a very impressive event today (Monday) and I am very proud that I am part of this history. Today we are launching the Sara for the barangays, may legacy na kasi ang kanyang ama at marami nang naging programa sa barangays na atin na lamang i-strengthen (because her father already has a legacy that involves many programs for the barangay and all we need is to strengthen it),” said Pichay.
Pichay, together with other party leaders, described the event historic with the outpouring of support highly noticeable during the launch.
“We want to inform the people in barangays, including its officials that Mayor Sara and BBM have good and better programs for them,” Pichay added.
The participants in the Sara para sa Barangay Initiative also declared their wholehearted support to the presidential bid of Duterte’s UniTeam partner, Marcos.
“The directive of Mayor Sara to HNP is to support all the way the UniTeam led by President Bongbong Marcos,” said Vice Gov. Zarmoa.
For his part, Way Kurat Zamora, HNP and Lakas-CMD provincial chairman, stressed the need for voters to support not only Duterte, but also Marcos.
Gov. Uy supported Zamora’s statement, saying that both Duterte and Marcos should win the elections.
“Kung ang susunod na presidente ay kakampi ni Mayor Sara, madali lang nating malalapitan, sigurado ang ating probinsiya na marami pa tayong magagawa. (If the next president is an ally of Mayor Sara, we can be assured of more help for the province),” said Gov. Uy.
