Duterte appoints another RTC judge as Court of Appeals associate justice

Another regional trial court (RTC) judge has been appointed by President Duterte as associate justice of the Court of Appeals (CA), the second highest court in the country.
Appointed was Manila RTC Judge Ana Marie Train Mas. She replaced then CA Associate Justice Edgardo L. Delos Santos who was promoted to the Supreme Court (SC) in 2019 and eventually retired optionally in June 2021.
Justice Mas’ appointment papers were received by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo today, Jan. 31.
Her appointment was the fifth for the CA this month of January.
Earlier appointed were CA Associate Justices Jennifer Joy Chua Ong, Michael P. Ong, Maximo M. De Leon, and Jacinto Gavino Fajardo Jr.
Justices Chua Ong, Ong, and De Leon have taken their oaths of office before Chief Justice Gesmundo and thereafter assumed their posts in the appellate court.
It was not known immediately if Justice Fajardo has also taken his oath and assumed his new CA post.
