Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives have arrested a Pakistani tourist for allegedly operating a retail shop without the necessary business permits.
In a report to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, BI intelligence chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. said Nasir Khan was arrested on his 25th birthday last Friday for operating surplus shop in Apopong, General Santos City possessing only a tourist visa.
Records showed Khan holds a working visa until June last year and continued to stay in the country under a tourist visa.
Morente said foreign nationals are not allowed to conduct commercial activities without the proper visa,.
“This is considered a violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, and is grounds for deportation and blacklisting,” he added.
Khan will remain in the BI’s warden facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending his deportation.
