The opposition slate led by presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo is set to hold their proclamation rally in Naga City, Camarines Sur on Feb. 8, the official start of the campaign period.

Former House deputy speaker Erin Tañada, campaign manager of the opposition senatorial slate, said they will kick off their campaign in the bailiwick of Robredo.
“Pinaghahandaan po ‘yung malaking proclamation rally na gagawin sa Camarines Sur sa February 8 at February 9 sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Bicol region (We are preparing for the big proclamation rally to be held in Camarines Sur on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 in the different parts of Bicol region),” he said during Robredo’s Sunday radio show.
“So, lahat ng labindalawang pinangalanan ng ating Vice President ay imbitadong dumalo dito sa Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 activity (all of the 12 candidates named by our Vice President are invited to attend on) Feb. 8 and the Feb. 9 activity,” Tañada added.
The senatorial aspirants running under the ticket of Robredo and her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan are human rights lawyer Chel Dioko, reelectionists Risa Hontiveros and Leila de Lima, Teddy Baguilat Jr., Alex Lacson, labor leader Sonny Matula, and former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

Completing the Leni-Kiko ticket are the five adopted candidates namely Jejomar Binay, Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero, Senators Joel Villanueva, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Richard Gordon.
Tañada stressed that Robredo and Pangilinan personally chose the senators who will help in their agenda if they win in the May polls.
“Tingin niya ito ‘yung mga taong malapit sa prinsipyo at programang pinaglalaban po ng ating Pangalawang Pangulo (She thinks that these are the people who will stand for the same principles and programs pushed by our Vice President),” he added.
A former lawmaker, Tañada shared that the opposition ticket will go to the provinces of Sorsogon and Albay the day after the Feb. 8 proclamation rally.
Robredo’s camp is surprised by the outpouring of support or “pink explosion” for the Vice President as Tañada noted how Filipinos from different countries, provinces, and barangays are joining hands to help them in the campaign.
