The Mandaluyong City local government announced on Friday, Jan. 28, the passage of an ordinance granting a P10,000 cash incentive to senior citizens aged 90 years old and above.

Under Ordinance No. 871, S-2022, all registered senior citizens aged 90 to 101 years old and above in Mandaluyong will each receive P10,000 from the local government.

To avail of the benefit, elderly citizens must be physically present in their permanent homes in the city; registered with Office for Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) upon reaching the age of 60, and physically present therein one year before going 90.

Senior residents must submit requirements at least one month prior to their birthday.

The requirements include identification card (ID) issued by OSCA, Voterā€™s ID indicating Mandaluyong residency, and updated barangay certification.

In the distribution of the cash, eligible residents are required to bring valid documents.

The ordinance was passed in line with Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016 which grants a P100,000 cash gift to every Filipino who reaches the age of 100 years old.

As of Jan. 2022, the OSCA logged 380 senior citizens residing in Mandaluyong City.
