Is Ryan Bang the inspiration behind Yeng Constantino’s ‘Chinito’ song?

Twitterverse thinks so

After their moment in the noon-time show “It’s Showtime” on Jan. 28, Ryan Bang and Yeng Constantino trended on Twitter as netizens rave about their TOTGA story. This led many to think that the inspiration behind the singer’s 2013 song “Chinito” is the South Korean host and comedian.

Chinito” is part of Yeng’s fourth studio album “Metamorphosis.” On May 24, 2013, a music video was released featuring the singer and actor Enchong Dee. Unlike many of the songs in the album, “Chinito” is not composed by Yeng, according to an episode of “Rated K.”

Before it was recorded by Yeng, the song was about a chinita girl admired by a boy. In the said episode, composer and lyricist Jed Dumawal shared that the song was influenced by the K-pop craze happening in 2010. “Natuwa lang ako sa idea na parang wala pang nakakagawa ng kanta na sobrang specific about sa chinita (I was just fond of the idea of creating a song that is specific about chinita since no one has done it yet),” he said.

In a 2013 interview by the Gulf News, Yeng shared the same sentiments about the song’s inspiration saying, “The song really tells what my type of guy is. Well, I really like guys with small eyes. I think they’re very charming.”

Whether Ryan is the inspiration behind Yeng doing the song or not, we can all agree that “Chinito” is still a classic that leaves many having LSS.
