Manhunt on vs suspect in massacre of woman, 2 kids


CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Police Brigadier General Sidney S. Hernia, regional director of Police Regional Office MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) has ordered the local police in Romblon to launch a massive manhunt against the suspect in the killing of a 29-year old mother and her two young sons in San Jose town last Wednesday, January 26.

Hernia specifically instructed the local police chief, Lt. Mark Anthony P. Encarnacion to immediately identify and arrest the suspect including anyone who may have conspired with him in the massacre of the victims identified as Wielyn M. Mendoza, single, her two children, TJ, nine-years old and JB, seven years old.

Police investigation showed that all the three victims sustained fatal wounds in the different parts of their bodies caused by a knife or bladed weapon which the suspect or his cohorts used.

Wilbert Mendoza, a brother of Wielyn found the lifeless bodies of the victims at about 9 a.m. last January 26 inside their house at Upper Hinulugan, Barangay Poblacion.

A team from the Romblon Provincial Forensic Science Unit has arrived in the area and so far, a person of interest was only identified as investigators continue to conduct an in-depth investigation of the crime, said Police Major Loreto F. Maulion Jr., chief of Public Information Office of PNP MIMAROPA.
