Makati sends COVID-19 vaccines to Batangas


The Makati City local government sent 13,000 AstraZeneca vaccines to the province of Batangas on Wednesday, Jan. 26, as it continuously fight the surge in COVID-19 cases brought about by the more infectious Omicron and Delta variants.

On its official Facebook page, the local government unit (LGU) shared photos of the turnover event attended by City Administrator Claro Certeza, Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, Dr. Roland Unson, Incident Commander of COVID-19 Operations of Makati, Dr. Ethel Labayog, National Immunization Program (NIP) Medical Coordinator, Mr. Ronin Leviste of the Office of the Vice Governor of Batangas, and Mr. Ambrocio Mana-ay of the JCBinay Foundation.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said that the city is prepared to help nearby provinces and communities in responding to the pandemic.

On Dec. 16, the Makati Health Department (MHD) and the Department of Health (DOH) sent volunteers to assist neighboring regions during the second leg of the National Vaccination Program called Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2.

In a Facebook post, the local government said that three nurses from the MHD and three from the DOH were sent to Dasmariñas, Cavite to take part in the vaccination drive.
