Zambo cops punished for using cellphones while on duty

Four members of the Zamboanga police force were punished and are now facing administrative charges for allegedly using their cellular phones while on duty, according to a report posted on the Zamboanga City Police Office social media page.

“The four police officers, whose names were withheld, were ordered to do calisthenic exercises as punishment for their acts of misconduct and told to comply with the standard haircut of the PNP,” according to a statement by police.

The alleged violation of the four policemen was also reported to the Discipline, Law, and Order Section (DLOS) for the imposition of the appropriate administrative sanctions.

“Said patrolman and their supervisors were charged administratively for failure to supervise,” said Zamboanga Police Officer in Charge P/Col. Alexander Lorenzo.

Lorenzo assumed his post as officer-in-charge of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) this January.

The punishment is said to be pursuant to the new city police director’s mandate to intensify the PNP’s internal cleansing campaign against scalawag cops.

A day after his appointment, the new ZCPO director ordered policemen to undergo random drug testing.
