Wounded cop hailed for bravery in arresting wanted person in Iloilo


ILOILO CITY — The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) hailed the wounded Police Staff Sergeant Jessie Cabalfin and his fellow cops for arresting one of Iloilo province’s most wanted persons.

“Cabalfin’s actions bespeaks of his courage and commitment to service”, said Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director.

Cabalfin was wounded when suspect Ernesto Lonquino Capio resisted cops serving warrant of arrest last January 24 in Leon town.

Capio has a standing warrants of arrest for the crimes of murder and double attempted murder.

Capio allegedly shot and killed Zosimo Loquias, a former barangay captain of Cagay village, last May 2021. The suspect also wounded a 65-year-old female during the same incident.

During the same month, Capio also allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old farmer in the same village.

On the other hand, Cabalfin was among the combined forces who were out to arrest Capio.

The cop was joined by those from the Leon Municipal Police Station (LMPS), the 601st Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, and the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company under the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
