In a post by the All U.P. Academic Employees Union, it said on Tuesday, Jan. 25 that a meeting was held with the UP admin composed of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPPA), Office of the Vice-President for Administration (OVPA), chancellors and sectoral regents.

Also there were All UP Workers Alliance, Congress of Teachers/Educators for Nationalism and Democracy (CONTEND) - UP as well as student groups.

One of the decisions arrived at during the meeting was the much needed health break/recovery from Typhoon Odette and the rising coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases that has affected students, employees, Research, Extension and Professional Staff (REPS) and faculty.

Despite the health break, the second semester will still start on Feb. 7 within all constituent universities except for the Open University which will open on Feb. 13, and Cebu that will open on Feb 21.

UP Chancellors, according to the union, will be releasing a memorandum on the said health break.

Meanwhile, starting Feb. 2, a five-day wellness and learning development program will be conducted within the REPS and employees to give them ample time to rest and recover.
